Is McAvoy the choice for Bilbo in ‘The Hobbit’?

The other hot topic is the casting choice for Bilbo. Many people feel that this should be a “name” actor for the important role. Jackson has stated that he is considering an “unknown” actor for the lead. He goes on to say that out of the rumored bunch, Daniel Radcliffe, Martin Freeman, James McAvoy, and David Tennant; some are still being considered and others are not. There seems to be a big voice coming from fanboys everywhere on this topic. Interesting to see that who plays Bilbo is a big concern in the LOTR realm, when no one seemed to care about the trilogy’s casting.
The idea of casting and unknown is a great one by Jackson and if he goes that route with Director Guillermo Del Toro, no one should complain. However, if he’s looking for some star power (which he doesn’t need for this movie) then the logical choice seems to be McAvoy. The star of last year’s Wanted, may be a little young for the role, but movie magic can set him in the proper age. Physically, he fits the bill and could bring the goofiness that the Bilbo character displays.
So, breaking news…The Hobbit is still on schedule and Bilbo Baggins has not been selected.
