Join Back Stage for An Evening With “The Last Station.” The Los Angeles screening of “The Last Station,” will be held on Saturday, November 7, followed by a Q&A with the film’s star James McAvoy.
“The Last Station,” explores the final years of Russian author Leo Tolstoy’s life. While Tolstoy (Christopher Plummer) fights against illness, he must also rectify his personal beliefs concerning social reform with the reality of his own financial success. In the twilight of his life, he is surrounded by his wife Sofya (Helen Mirren), disciple Vladamir Cherkov (Paul Giamatti), and Valentin Bulgakov (James McAvoy), a young secretary brought into the Tolstoy circle.
McAvoy’s credits include “Wanted” and “The Last King of Scotland.” In 2007, his portrayal of Robbie Turner in “Atonement” garnered him a Golden Globe nomination for Best Actor.
