Anne Marie Duff – Margot

Posted by Jasmine with No Comments

In this interview with Anne Marie Duff about Margot, James gets mentioned :)

Their on stage chemistry spilled over into the wings with the 90-minute one-off drama showing married Margot in bed with her leading man. “I don’t think it’s a secret,” maintains Anne-Marie.

“It was passionate and there was an enormous amount of chemistry between them on stage and in the rehearsal room. There were enough witnesses for us to know that was true. Whether they made love or not is the only thing we don’t know.

“People saw a change in her and in her dancing. She said she fell in love with him but she always maintained not in the same way that she loved her husband.”

Sparks also flew on and off the set of Paul Abbott’s Manchester drama when Fiona was wooed by car thief Steve McBride, played by James McAvoy. Having met at work in 2003, Anne-Marie and James married two years later.

Both their careers have flourished since leaving the Chatsworth behind, with Anne-Marie, 39. playing a variety of roles, including Elizabeth I. She also stars as John Lennon’s mother Julia in feature film Nowhere Boy, by Prestwich screenwriter Matt Greenhalgh, which goes on general release on Dec 26.

James, 30, has appeared in high profile films including The Last King Of Scotland and Atonement, which resulted in some strange questions for his other half.

“I’m so unbelievably lucky,” insists the London-based actress, reflecting back to her time on Shameless. She smiles: “It’s funny. Sometimes you do interviews and people say, ‘Well, you’re probably only really well known for being somebody’s wife. How does that make you feel?’

“But for actors being successful is generally getting a job. If you can work a lot, you’re really successful. If you work a lot on projects that are interesting and intelligent and great fun to be part of, then you’re hugely successful. And I feel hugely successful. I can’t believe that I get to be involved with the projects and the people I work with.”

James McAvoy interview

Posted by Jasmine with No Comments

Make sure to read the whole article.

JAMES MCAVOY has refused to work with actress wife Anne-Marie Duff in case they become “a target”.

The Scots actor feared they would suffer in the spotlight the same way Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez or Liz Taylor and Richard Burton did.

But the couple – who met on the set of Channel 4′s comedy Shameless – are finally appearing on the big screen together.

However, they only accepted their roles because they don’t play opposite each other in The Last Station In fact, James even has a sex scene with Kerry Condon in the movie, which is about War And Peace author Leo Tolstoy.

James, 30, said: “We’ve been offered a hell of a lot of parts playing opposite each other in films and TV and we just turn them down.

“If you do work together you put yourself up, you make yourself a target and you make your relationship a target and all of that. We’re very keen not to do that.

“But in The Last Station we don’t play opposite each other in the film. We don’t really act with each other hardly at all.”

Filmed in Germany and also starring Helen Mirren, it was the idea of being together working on a film but not working together in the film that was the clincher.

James added: “It was nice to spend those two months together rather than spending those two months apart, while she’s off somewhere doing God knows what and I’m off somewhere doing God knows what. So it was fine. It was quite easy with this one.”……

…..He admitted Redford is working him hard – asking him to ditch his Scots accent and speak with an American one, even off the set.

“Bob wants me to stay in an American accent all the time,” he winced. “I’m trying to but I just can’t be bothered all the time.

“I’m trying to make Bob happy, but that’s an exhausting task.

“I’ll get there eventually, hopefully, one day. So, no. I’m not particularly method with either my accents or my acting.”…….

The Conspirator Filming Update

Posted by Jasmine with No Comments

From KeyToSavannah, James’ body double was spotted on set yesterday.

From JamesMcAvoyMB,

According to someone on the set of ‘The Conspirator’ who posts on IMDb, “There was a typical seasonal, flu/cough outbreak on set, everyone’s sick, including me, but he does not have swine flu.” From reports that we’ve gotten this week via Twitter, he’s recovered and back on set. One of the extras posted today that “every time i’ve been there James McAvoy is there and hasn’t seemed sick…but again, i’m not there everyday, so i don’t know what’s going on all the time. McAvoy is super nice and so is Redford.”

James is ill with “swine flu”

Posted by Jasmine with No Comments

There were various other tweets about James McAvoy being ill with the swine flu. That was why he didnt do the Q & A for the Last Station in Los Angeles on Nov 7. Director Michael Hoffman had to replace him. Here is a report about it:

I’ve just gotten home from the Back Stage-sponsored showing of The Last Station in L.A. No, James McAvoy was not present at the screening. Upon arriving really early at the line going in, I immediately heard other people saying that JM would not be there tonight due to “unforeseen circumstances,” but that the director Michael Hoffman would instead be showing up to handle the post-screening Q & A.

Anyway, right before the movie started, Michael Hoffman took the stage to better explain JM’s absence. He told the audience that while James McAvoy was in fact on a couple days’ break from his present shooting schedule [i.e., for The Conspirator, filming in Savannah, Georgia], he had become “very ill” with the swine flu. Hoffman did, however, pull out his Blackberry and read an e-mail that he had received from JM. In it, James expressed regret over not being there and hoped it wouldn’t be viewed as a “typical actor’s no-show.” Keeping with his trademark sense of humor, JM was reportedly “busy fending off crew members who felt that fried chicken was the cure-all for everything…after all this is the South!”

Although I had hoped to see James McAvoy there, it was nevertheless very interesting to hear Michael Hoffman talk about his film and how he’d lost his initial leads of Anthony Hopkins and Meryl Streep due to an earlier lack of financing when they had both been available to start shooting. Hoffman had also had Laura Linney in mind to play Sasha Tolstoy, but for the longest time couldn’t come up with anyone to play the role of Valentin Bulgakov…that is, not until he saw James McAvoy’s work as Dr. Nicholas Garrigan in The Last King of Scotland. Hoffman noted the unique challenges that JM faced in portraying Valentin in The Last Station, chiefly because this character is mostly “reactive” to all of the other main characters (as opposed to helping to “move along” the action himself). At the same time, however, Hoffman stated that JM as Valentin ultimately serves as the “glue” that holds the story itself together. It was readily apparent that Hoffman had greatly enjoyed working with James McAvoy on The Last Station.

It’s hard to tell in general if its a normal flu or if it is the swine flu either way, hope James has recovered by now.
